Gang rape of Spanish woman in Jharkhand: 3 accused arrested, search for 4; Taking husband hostage and brutalizing her one by one for two and a half hours
A Spanish woman, who came to India with her husband on a tourist visa, was gang-raped in Dumka, Jharkhand. The incident happened late Friday night in Kurmahat area. The age of the woman is said to be 30 years. After the gang rape, the victim herself reached the health center by bike. After this the police team escorted him. In the case, the police arrested 3 accused and presented them in Dumka court, from where they were sent to jail. Currently four accused are being searched.
According to the information received, the woman was roaming in Dumka on Friday. When night fell, she pitched a tent in a field with her husband and started resting. During this time, 7 miscreant youths from Kunji village reached there and gang-raped and assaulted the woman. The police have detained 3 people and started investigation in the case.
The foreign woman told that first two people came, then by phone they called 5 people. Everyone beat him. Then they tied her husband's hands and legs and raped her one by one for about two and a half hours.
Here, the issue of gang rape of a foreign tourist came up in the Jharkhand Assembly on the last day of the budget session. BJP MLA Amit Mandal has called the incident a defamation of the state as well as the country. Late Sunday evening, Commission member Mamta Kumari took stock of the incident site and then met the victim Spanish couple. The Commission has written a letter to DGP Ajay Kumar Singh demanding action.
Spanish couple was roaming on bike
The husband and wife first went to Pakistan from Spain. From there they reached Dumka in Jharkhand via Bangladesh. The woman had gone on a bike tour with her husband. He had to go towards Bhagalpur via Dumka, but when night fell, he pitched a tent and slept in a deserted field before Hansdiha market.
In the complaint given to the police, the woman told that both the husband and wife were in the tent around 7 in the evening, when a sound was heard from outside. Saw that two people were talking on the phone. After some time, 5 people came on 2 bikes. Everyone entered the tent. During this time, three people caught my husband, tied his hands and beat him. While 4 people took me out of the tent. Everyone beat me. Then they raped one by one. Later, three people present in the tent also committed brutality. The incident was carried out from 7:30 pm to 10 pm. All the accused were drunk.
Woman's clothes found in the field
According to the police, the woman informed the police patrol team about the incident that happened to her at around 10:30 pm. The police took immediate action and launched a search operation. As per the information given by the woman, the police reached the spot with a team of forensic experts, where the woman's clothes were found in the pigeon pea field. An incident of gang rape of a woman has been confirmed in the Community Health Centre.
