Israel-US vs Iran War Live Updates: China Denies Military Support to Iran, Calls for Ceasefire
China has denied reports that it is providing military support to Iran amid the escalating Israel US Iran war, stating that its backing remains political and diplomatic rather than military.
Beijing imports nearly 70 percent of its oil, with roughly half passing through the Strait of Hormuz, including supplies from Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. The ongoing Gulf maritime tensions have therefore heightened Chinese concerns over global energy security.
China has strongly criticised recent US and Israeli actions, arguing that nuclear negotiations with Iran had been progressing. Foreign Minister Wang Yi held discussions with counterparts from Oman, Iran, and France, concluding that diplomatic efforts were intentionally disrupted.
While reaffirming that Iran is considered a partner, China’s foreign ministry rejected claims of weapons transfers or direct military assistance, emphasizing calls for a ceasefire and a return to diplomatic negotiations amid the broader Middle East conflict escalation.
