Lebanon’s Hezbollah has said it considers retaliation against Israel a legitimate right, as the broader Israel US Iran war fuels renewed cross-border hostilities along the Israel-Lebanon frontier.
The group stated that Israeli strikes over the past 15 months violated the 2024 ceasefire understanding and that political and diplomatic efforts to halt the attacks had failed. It described its recent missile launches as defensive actions aimed at countering continued aggression.
Hezbollah added that it had previously warned of consequences if Israeli operations persisted and said it would take necessary measures to stop further destruction amid the ongoing Middle East conflict escalation.
Meanwhile, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced that Hezbollah would cease military activities going forward, stating that the organization’s role would now be confined to political engagement as part of efforts to stabilize the country during the widening regional security crisis.
