Isreal Iran Conflict: Death Toll Rises to 555 as Strikes Hit Over 1,000 Sites Across Iran
The humanitarian toll inside Iran continues to mount as the ongoing conflict intensifies. According to international media reports citing regional sources, joint US–Israeli operations have targeted more than 1,000 locations across Iran since the fighting began on February 28.
In the first 30 hours alone, over 2,000 bombs were reportedly deployed in what analysts describe as one of the most concentrated aerial campaigns in recent regional history.
Casualty figures have risen sharply. Reports indicate that at least 555 people have been killed, while more than 740 others have been injured in strikes across multiple provinces.
One of the deadliest incidents involved a missile strike on a school, where approximately 180 students were killed and at least 45 others injured, according to preliminary accounts. Independent verification remains difficult amid communication disruptions and restricted access in several affected areas.
The conflict’s political shockwaves have also been significant. On the first day of hostilities, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was reportedly killed during large-scale bombardment, a development that has triggered uncertainty over leadership succession in Tehran.
Meanwhile, the conflict has expanded beyond Iran’s borders. On Sunday, three American soldiers were confirmed killed, further escalating tensions and increasing the likelihood of a prolonged and broader regional confrontation.
The situation remains fluid, with casualty figures expected to evolve as more information becomes available.
