जानकारी के अनुसार रेशमा को उसके मालिक नरेश कमार हिसार के भगाना गांव से करीब 1.40 लाख रूपये में खरीदा था। नरेश ने भैंस का डाइट बढ़ाई और अब वह 33 किले 800 ग्राम दूध दे कर देश में रिकॉर्ड बना दिया है। (According to the information, Reshma was bought by her owner Naresh Kamar from Bhagana village of Hisar for about Rs 1.40 lakh. बताया गया है कि जैसे ही यह बात आम हुई। नेशनल डेयरी डेवलपमेंट बोर्ड (National Dairy Development Board) की टीम पहुंची और जांच में जुट गई। बताया जाता है कि एनडीडीबी ने जांच के बाद देश की सबसे अधिक दूध देने वाली भैंस घोषित करते हुए पालक नरेश को सर्टिफिकेट जारी कर दिया।

जब रेशमा की कीमत के सम्बंध में लोगों द्वारा नरेश कुमार से पूछा गया तो उनका कहना था कि वह अपनी भैस को नहीं बेचना चाहते। लेकिन उन्होने यह अवश्य बताया कि कई लोग रेशमा को खरीदने के लिए आये। लोगों ने रेशमा के 6 लाख तक देने के लिए कहा है। लेकिन रेशमा को किसी भी कीमत पर नहीं बेंचा जायेगा। ( When Naresh Kumar was asked by the people regarding the price of Reshma, he said that he does not want to sell his buffalo.
