Sooryavanshi 175 makes India six-time Under-19 world champions
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi shatters records with a 175-run knock as India beats England by 100 runs to reclaim the Under-19 World Cup trophy in Harare.
India secured their sixth Under-19 World Cup title in spectacular fashion, defeating England by 100 runs in the final at Harare. The hero of the day was 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, whose record-breaking 175 off just 80 balls propelled India to a massive total of 411.
Sooryavanshi’s Blitzkrieg Sets the Stage
Choosing to bat first, India’s innings was defined by Sooryavanshi’s sheer audacity. The young opener reached his century in just 55 balls and his 150 in 71, raining sixes across the ground. His partnership of 142 with captain Ayush Mhatre (53) dismantled the English bowling attack early on.
While James Minto claimed three wickets to slow the scoring slightly, late cameos from Abhigyan Kundu and Kanishk Chouhan ensured India became the first Full Member nation to cross the 400-run mark in a Youth ODI.
England’s Brave Chase Falls Short
Chasing a mountain of 412, England showed heart. Caleb Falconer struck a brilliant 115 off 63 balls, and Ben Dawkins added 65 to keep the chase alive. However, India's disciplined bowling—led by RS Ambrish's 3-56—proved too much. Despite being ahead of the required run rate at several stages, England’s middle-order collapse left Falconer with too much to do, eventually being bowled out for 311.
