A significant day for British tennis saw both Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter power through to tournament semi-finals, signaling a resurgence for the nation’s top female players following recent coaching changes.

Raducanu Dominates in Transylvania

Emma Raducanu delivered a statement performance at the Transylvania Open, dispatching Poland’s Maja Chwalinska with a clinical 6-0, 6-4 victory. The 23-year-old former US Open champion looked in peak form, sprinting through a "bagel" opening set in just 25 minutes.

Despite increased pressure from the world number 146 in the second set, Raducanu secured a vital break at 3-3 to seal the win. This marks her first semi-final appearance since Washington last July and her most consistent run since parting ways with coach Francis Roig.

Up Next: Raducanu will face Ukraine’s Oleksandra Oliynykova, who gained attention not just for her face tattoos, but for saving a staggering 21 break points in her upset win over Wang Xinyu.

Boulter Finds Form in Ostrava

In the Czech Republic, British number one Katie Boulter mirrored Raducanu’s success by reaching the final four of the Ostrava Open. Boulter defeated Linda Fruhvirtova 6-3, 6-2, looking refreshed under the guidance of her new coach, Michael Joyce.

Having struggled for rhythm throughout 2025, this run represents a major turning point for the 29-year-old. She is now one win away from her first final since last May.

Disappointment for Kartal in Abu Dhabi

While Raducanu and Boulter celebrated, it was a tougher day for Sonay Kartal at the Abu Dhabi Open. The British number two suffered a dip in momentum, losing 10 games in a row during a 6-0, 6-2 loss to Czech player Sara Bejlek.
