The incident, which took place in the mid-16th century mausoleum that is a popular tourist spot, has prompted a swift response from emergency services.
The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) received a distress call around 4:30 pm about a portion of the dome falling. Officials have stated that eight to nine people are feared to be trapped under the rubble. An eyewitness who works at the tomb, Vishal Kumar, said he and his supervisor rushed to the spot after hearing a loud noise and helped in the initial rescue efforts.
Emergency Response and Ongoing Rescue Operation
Following the call, five fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the site to begin rescue operations. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team has also arrived at the location to assist in the efforts to safely retrieve those believed to be still trapped.
Local residents were among the first to respond to the incident, and their quick actions helped rescue several people from the debris. Fire service personnel have also been able to pull out a few more individuals. No fatalities have been reported so far, and a thorough inspection of the site is underway as rescue teams continue their work.
