RCB Top Order Dominates with Three Fifties
After losing the toss, RCB were put in to bat first and made full use of the opportunity. Their top three batters delivered outstanding performances, each scoring a half-century.
Phil Salt led the charge with a powerful 78 runs, setting the tone for a big total. Star batter Virat Kohli added a steady 50, while captain Rajat Patidar contributed 53 runs.
The strong foundation allowed RCB to accelerate in the final overs. Tim David played a quick cameo, scoring 34 runs off just 16 balls, pushing the total to an impressive 240 runs.
Mumbai’s Strong Start Fades Midway
Chasing 241 runs, Mumbai Indians started confidently with Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton providing a solid opening partnership. The duo added 57 runs in just 32 balls, giving the home team a strong base.
However, the momentum shifted after Rohit Sharma had to retire hurt. This setback disrupted Mumbai’s rhythm, and wickets began to fall at crucial moments.
Suryakumar Yadav scored 33 runs, while Tilak Varma struggled and managed just 1 run. Captain Hardik Pandya contributed 40 runs but could not take the team closer to victory.
Rutherford’s Explosive Knock Not Enough
Sherfane Rutherford played a stunning innings towards the end, scoring an unbeaten 71 runs off just 31 balls. His knock included nine massive sixes and kept Mumbai’s hopes alive.
Despite his efforts, the required run rate proved too high, and Mumbai finished at 222 runs in 20 overs, falling short by 18 runs.
RCB’s bowler Suyash Sharma played a key role by picking up two crucial wickets in a single over, helping his team regain control of the match.

With this victory, RCB secured their third win of the season and maintained their position at number three on the points table.
